Rekindling a long-forgotten love for painting, art, making things with hands and anything in between.

Cindy grew up with paintbrushes, easels, candle waxes, sewing kits and toolboxes ( yes, with tools like a hammer, drill, and all). She was always working on something, handicrafts, paintings or room improvement project all rolled into one. As time passed, life’s other commitments became her priority. Gradually, Cindy forgot about her love for making beautiful things.

The First Pattern

Fast forward and blessed with two amazing boys now, Cindy recalled her artistic side. She began finding herself making things again, often for her boys. Her first dabble with pattern creation was accidental. When her first spontaneous design submission was voted one of the top 10 in Spoonflower’s weekly design challenge, the experience opened her eyes. She gravitated towards honing her skill to create repeat surface patterns on fabrics. The new skill excited her. Since then, she has not stopped making textile patterns.

The beginning

The incident that convinced Cindy to start Mooi Wonderland was when she collated her son’s doodles and made them into a bedding sheet. He sleeps and dreams about his mummy-son trip to Gardens By The Bay, his robots, inventions and the evil villains he fought with as a superhero. Cindy knew she wanted to make such beautiful memories again.

Mooi Wonderland is born.

‘Mooi’ means beautiful in Dutch.

At Mooi Wonderland, we create meaningful works. We find inspiration from where we are, nature and our heritage.

We observe intently, listen with our hearts and do what we believe is right.

Being observant and being kind become our house principles.
