Koi Pattern
One fish. Two fish. Red fish. Blue fish. Black fish. Blue fish. Old fish. New fish. This one has a little star. This one has a little car. Say! What a lot of fish there are. ~ Dr. Seuss
The pond in the community garden I visit weekly reminds me of this phrase. It is no longer just one fish, two fish in this garden. It has become one pond, two ponds. Big pond. Small pond. This one has a little pagoda. This one has a lily plant. Say! What great ponds of fish there are.
Koi fish is the symbol of profit and success. These ponds in the garden have demonstrated abundance and growth.
We draw inspiration from our community gardens, pepper with some imagination and string short narratives that complete the pattern like a short story picture book.
